Collaborative Data Journalism

Collaborative data journalism is becoming increasingly popular as journalists work together to analyze and share data. This approach involves pooling resources and expertise to produce in-depth investigations that can have a significant impact on public policy.

Journalists can collaborate on projects using online platforms such as GitHub or Google Docs, allowing them to share data and work together in real time. This approach can help to create more robust and accurate analyses while also fostering a sense of community among journalists.

Data Storytelling

Data storytelling is an emerging trend in data journalism, where journalists use data to tell compelling stories. This approach involves taking complex data and presenting it in a way that is easy to understand and engaging for readers.

Journalists can use data to tell stories in a variety of formats, including articles, videos, and podcasts. By using data to support their narratives, journalists can provide readers with a deeper understanding of complex issues and help them to make informed decisions.

Data Ethics

As data journalism becomes more prevalent, journalists must also consider the ethical implications of their work. Data ethics involves considering issues such as data privacy, bias, and accuracy when collecting and analyzing data.

Journalists must take steps to ensure that the data they use is accurate and unbiased and that they protect the privacy of individuals whose data is being analyzed. This involves being transparent about data collection and analysis methods and ensuring that the data is used in a responsible and ethical manner.

Data journalism is an ever-evolving field, with new trends and technologies emerging all the time. As journalists continue to uncover important stories using data, it is essential that they stay up-to-date with the latest trends and techniques to produce robust, accurate, and ethical journalism.

Interactive Data Visualization

Video anchoring is a relatively new form of broadcasting that has gained popularity in recent years. It involves the use of a video anchor to host and present news and other types of media content in a live or pre-recorded format. Unlike traditional news anchors who appear on television screens, video anchors use their own computer screens to create a more personal and interactive experience for the viewer.

One of the biggest advantages of video anchoring is the ability to connect with the audience in real-time. With social media gaining popularity, viewers expect a more personal connection with the content they consume. Video anchoring can provide this by allowing the anchor to interact with the audience through live chat, comments and other forms of engagement.

Another advantage of video anchoring is the flexibility it offers. Since video anchoring can be done from anywhere with an internet connection, it eliminates the need for expensive broadcast equipment and studio space. This makes it an ideal solution for independent journalists, small media organisations and to anyone looking to start a new venture in the field of journalism.

Video anchoring also opens new opportunities for storytelling. With the ability to incorporate visuals, graphics and other forms of multimedia, video anchoring enables journalists to create more engaging and immersive content that holds the viewer's attention.

The course in its bouquet has modules on:

  • 1. Aesthetics of video production.
  • 2. Video anchoring.
